Sinn was founded in 1961 by flight instructor and Luftwaffe pilot Helmut Sinn under the name ‘Helmut Sinn Spezialuhren’.
They initially produced navigation cockpit clocks and pilot chronographs, also making cases for military and consumer purposes.
They are a relatively small producer of watches with only ~ 12000 watches per year.
Sinn 556
The design of this watch is based on early aircraft analog flight instruments with clean easy to read hands and indices.
It is produced in four different variants, two with Arabic numerals at 12, 3, 6, 9 and two with simple baton markers for all the hours, each has either a white second hand or a red second hand.
Each are available with either a stainless steel band or leather strap.

This watch features a matte black dial.
The hour and minute hands, Arabic and baton indices are coated in luminescent colour for easy readability in all lights.
The dial features hour and minute indices for precise timekeeping. Arabic numerals are used at the 3, 6, 9, and 12 o’clock positions.
A date display can be found between the 4 and 5 o’clock points.
This model features a red second hand to provide a harmonious contrast to the black dial and white indices.
The strap is a Khaki NATO.

SUG
Sinn is well known for their exacting case execution.
Lothar Schmidt, Owner of Sinn-Spezialuhren in Frankfut along with Dr Ronald Boldt was involved in the founding of SUG (Sachsische Unrentechnologie GMBH Glashutte) in 1998 to produce small volume wristwatch cases.
