WikiShed
Shed40 knowledge base
This is a collection of pages containing all manner of useful information which may be of interest to others.
It also a convenient place to store my notes so that i can always find them wherever i happen to be.
It is an alternative to traditional blog posts as the format is more academic than descriptive and easier to maintain.
However, it is not a traditional wiki as it is not editable by visitors to the site.
Railways
My interest in railways comes from my father, he was an engine driver in the steam era.
He first became a driver in 1962 in the last few years of steam locomotives on British Railways. He then moved on to drive diesel locomotives which to me don't hold the same fascination as steam engines.
Site Status
Most of the pages on shed40 have been removed, this is due to lack of time to maintain them and low visitor counts.
The future if the site is uncertain, i am currently using it as a test platform for other projects, these test pages are not indexed and not accessible by the public.
Colwick Locomotive Shed plate
Why Shed40?
40E was originally the designation of a railway motive power depot in Colwick, Nottingham, where my father started work at the end of World War 2 as an engine cleaner, and almost 20 years later became an engine driver. The site logo (40E) represents a plate fitted to the front of a steam locomotive to show it's home depot (Shed).
It has been re-purposed for my own personal internet branding, and is dedicated to my father.
